"Why, Tarsonis of course." said Captain Smithfield.
"What's happening on Tarsonis?" asked Lieutenant Jack, as the dropship entered the upper atmosphere.
"There's going to be a major terran offensive."
"What is our primary objective?"
"First of all, we have to locate the protoss assassins."
"Great, more assassins."
"For the last time, I'm a sniper, not an assassin."
"How could I have forgotten..." said Lt. Jack sarcastically.
"Now then, second of all, we must follow the bulk of the force down the caverns to the hive core."
"Upon which time we will encounter?"
"A cerebrate."
"...Did...did you just say we're fighting a cerebrate?"
"The lost cerebrate Xenoth, to be exact."
"I'm not going through another cerebrate mission."
"I understand, everyone knows your squad was wiped out in the last cerebrate offensive. But YOU survived, that's why we thought you would be the best one for the job."
"Damn."
"What now?"
"Look out that window..."
As each of them looked out the window, they watched as half a dozen nuclear warheads fell from the sky upon the overrun base.
"There's nothing you could have done." said Captain Smithfield.
"I could have been there with them. I could have fought to the last man."
"This mission is more important than that."
"AND JUST WHO DECIDES WHO IS THE MOST IMPORTANT, DAMN IT."
"I'm...I'm sorry."
"(sigh) It's not your fault."
"We'll be there in 4 hours, you'd better get as much rest as you can."
As the dropsip reached Tarsonis's outer atmosphere, zerg blasts spewed up from the planet's surface. The dropships nearest to the blasts bore the insignia of the 236th spacebourne elite. "Brace for impact.", said a voice over the radio. Just then, the planet's gravity showed it's effects. With a sudden jolt, everyone knew that there would be no retreat. As the zerg blasts drew nearer and nearer, the other dropships began taking damage. One was even knocked off course, and landed in the desert. The dropship hit the sand with a thud, and the blast doors opened. Right away the air was filled with the sounds of commanders giving orders. The spacebourne elite was to provide cover fire, while a small band of marines led Captain Smithfield and Lieutenant Jack down the caverns. Suddenly, the ground near the left flank burst up, and hydralisks led by an ultralisk trampled the marines. With a simgle shot of her canister rifle, Captain Smithfield decapitated the ultralisk, and another squad of marined drove back the hydralisks with suppressing fire. Over the cavern entrances, zerg guardians blasted away seige tanks. The captain was loading her canister rifle, when an RPG fired from onboard a dropship splattered the guardian. Smithfield turned to see who stole her kill, but instead she saw a mutalisk tearing through the dropship.
Before the marines could fortify the front lines, the zerg mounted a counter offensive. Concentrated hydralisk fire cut through the central blockade, and dozens of zerglings poured in. Even with the combined power of Smithfield's pistols, and Jack's auto-rifle, the zerg still managed to capture a protoss warrior. "Without that protoss, this mission is failed!", shouted Captain Smithfield. As zerglings dragged the warrior, drones covered him in a cocoon-esq material. Smithfield and Jack raced forward to stop the zerg, leaving their commrades behind. One of Jack's grenades Scattered the zerg, and together with Smithfield, he slaughtered the drones. Hurriedly, they freed the protoss warrior. "May Tassadar bless you on this day!" exclaimed the free templar, "However, this occasion is not so joyous, as my partner was captured shortly after you left planet quel'tek." continued the warrior
"So what?" said Jack.
"So, he can't merge and stop the cerebrate." explained Captain Smithfield.
"Exactly." agreed the templar.
"Do you have a name?" asked Lieutenant Jack.
"Of course, you may call me Sarius." said the protoss warrior.
"We must warn the others that this mission is failed." said Captain Smithfield.
Just then, gunfire from the marine base camp echoed throughout the cavern. "An ambush." said Jack. "We must pass through the cavern if we hope to live." said Sarius. And so, the team made their descent through the tunnels, crushing what little resistance they found. "Most of the resistance must be at the ambush still." thought Smithfield. Suddenly, a loud thump echoed from directly behind the group. Behind them lie a crushed ultralisk. "Fear not," said Sarius," as it is dead. I sensed it following us over a half hour ago." Up ahead, a light shone brightly, a light that could only have come from the surface. As they came closer however, they found themselves walking through a sticky purple substance...creep. They took a look around, only to discover that they were completely encircled by a zerg base.
"We're right in the middle of this fucking thing!" yelled Lieutenant Jack.

again, a pretty good story. 7/10. But I would like to point something out. I mean no offense, the story was overall good, but when you write a story, you have to be more realistic. For example, You said that captain Smithfield killed an ultralisk with one shot. Did you see the size of an ultralisk? It's freaking huge, one C-10 blast probably wouldnt have killed it. There really isnt anything else. The story would probably have been a bit better if you put more vivid description on the battle scenes. Thats all. gj~ |

it was a good, intresting story... as silver1penguin said a shot from a c-10 canister rifle couldnt kill an ultralisk i think unless the captain aims at its brain, head, eyes whatever you say.. but if something like that happened i think you should have mentioned it.. anyway i liked it, i will be definetely keeping an eye on chap 3.. |

Once again, your story lacks in several more major sections, namely the characters. At first it was like they were the only dropship heading there, but then suddenly all these others appeared. Meh. I haven't rated coz I may have gotten my facts mixed up. If I have, can you plz tell me? At the moment, 7/10
| 16, Protogod (Senior Moderator) | |||||||
|
well, the only fact that you got wrong was that I said that "we'll be there in 4 hours." giving the other dropships time to join the first.

Ive been waiting 2 days for approval for my story. It's called Unknown Betrayal. Anyway 2 days isin't that long but.. how much longer do people usually have to wait for their story to be approved? Anyway i wanna read some new stories. Ok nice story, 7.5/10

While I like the story, how can a ghost's cannister rifle decapitate an Ultralisk. That isn't like a .45 taking down a battle ship???
