My other series, "The Fall of the Queen of Blades" kind of failed, so I'm trying to make a new series based on Duran and his Hybrid. I hope this one is good. Enjoy.

Chapter 1: Duran and his Hybrid

It laid there, half Zerg, half Protoss, in its Stasis Cell. It had been waiting in the cell for more than a year, waiting for its master, Samir Duran, to release him. It did not know how, but it could sense that today would be the day when it could breathe fresh air, and not swallow chemical water which was in the cell. The half Zerg, half Protoss that Duran had created for unimaginable power was now ready to be free. The hybrid saw a human for the first time, come into the lab room. The human was pressing buttons and looking at data. Finally, the green, filthy chemical water in the Stasis Cell started to drain. The hybrid looked at the clean glass and saw its reflection for the first time. It had a spiky head with tusks coming out of it. A body that did not seem to fit the head was attached underneath the tusks. It was yellow, made out of metal and a type of plasma material, used as armor to protect the body. The hybrid had brown, hard arms that matched its head. It had claws on the ends of both arms, and attached to the claws were psi blades. This hybrid was a perfect combination of a Zerg and a Protoss.

The human, which the hybrid guessed was a scientist, observed the hybrid and was quickly taking notes. He looked as though he was frightened by the massive figure of the hybrid. Duran quickly came in the room and began talking to the scientist. The hybrid knew that the conversation was about him. It did not like being looked at like a statue at a museum, so it let out a ferocious roar, and the scientist quickly went to the control panel and pressed the button to shock the Stasis Cell. The shock didn’t do anything to the hybrid, since it had carapace and plasma armor, so it began hitting the glass with its claws. The glass started to crack, and for the first time, the hybrid breathed fresh air. Immediately, the hybrid fell backwards, for it was not used to this new substance that was going into its body. The hybrid fell, and shattered all the glass that was behind it. The glass had miraculously pushed its way through the plasma armor, and straight into the hybrid’s actual body.

The hybrid had gone unconscious with blood coming out of its back. Duran quickly called Medics on the intercom and the scientist checked the hybrid to see what had happened. The Medics took the hybrid to the Medical Center, and Duran started talking to the scientist once more.

“Will the hybrid be okay?” Duran asked the scientist.

“Yes, it will. It has just has a minor cut in its back. The only reason it was bleeding so much was because the glass had hit a vein, but it can be easily healed thanks to our ghost-medics.” The scientist replied.

The ghost-medics were special medics that had physic powers. They could locate wounds that were deep in an organism’s body. In this case, they were needed to find out which vein the glass had hit, and how badly cut the vein was.

“Okay, that is good.” Duran said, relieved.
If his hybrid had been in critical danger and died, Duran might have killed himself. He had many other hybrids, but the loss of one would make all his work for this certain hybrid go down the drain. Also, the Protoss were in search of Duran after Zeratul had found out about the hybrid, and without his hybrid, there was no way his tiny militia could fight against Artanis’ army.

“Now back to our previous conversation.” Duran said to the scientist. “How well will I be able to control the hybrid?”

“Honestly, I’m not sure…” The scientist told Duran. “The hybrid has two minds, one physic mind from its Protoss genes, and one war-like mind from its Zerg genes. You may be able to control its physic powers to make it obey you, but its war-like mind may not listen.”

“Well, be sure.” Duran told the scientist. He had lost his patience with these rebellious UED workers. They never knew exactly what might happen, so they always had to guess. “I have worked too hard and too long on this project just to let some two-minded freak kill me. If that thing won’t obey, make it obey, and don’t stop trying until is listens.”

“Yes sir, I will try my best.” The scientist said.

“If you fail, you will wish that you had stayed with DuGalle and gotten slaughtered by Kerrigan’s brood.” Duran told him.

“Yes sir… I will make sure that I don’t fail…” The scientist said, now more scared of Duran than it was of his precious little hybrid.

At the Medical Room, the ghost-medics were treating the hybrid with nuero chemicals to keep it unconscious. The longer the hybrid stayed sleeping, the better it could adapt to the new air. Without it going crazy, the hybrid would actually breathe the oxygen. The medics took their fourteen inch long metal grapplers, a skinny device used to go deep into something and take out material without hurting its surrounding, and slid it down the hybrid’s armor and grabbed the glass. Once the glass had been caught, the medics pulled it out and treated the wound. When the vein had been fixed and the cut had been covered, the ghost-medics left the room and kept the hybrid under anestetics so that it could get used to the air.

The hybrid had been left unsupervised for more than an hour, and it had finally started to wake up. When it awoke, it saw things it had never seen before. Around him were needles, computers, tubes, and medicines. There were even the corpses from dead marines in the corner of the room. The hybrid had no idea where it was, and it didn’t know why there were small tubes all over him. It started to freak out and began destroying everything around it.

“Sir, we have treated the wound and the hybrid is in the Medical Room resting at thing moment.” A ghost-medic told Duran.

“You left it alone?!” Duran yelled ferociously. “It doesn’t know where it is! Do you have any idea what it could do this base or to itself?!”

“Uh, no… But we put it under anestetics…” The ghost-medics stupidly responded.

“Oh my god… Are you a complete idiot?!” Duran yelled. "Anestetics only last about an hour if you don’t add more to the organism! It could destroy this base or kill itself with one of the tools inside the Medical Room!”

Duran and the ghost-medic ran to the Medical Room just to find the place trashed. There was equipment and medicine all over the floor. On the left side of the wall, a cabinet had been pushed down and there was a giant hole above it. The hybrid was gone.

“Oh no…” The ghost-medic said. He quickly ran over to the intercom and said, “All ghosts and scientists, report to the Medical Room, immediately!”

When the ghosts and scientists arrived, the scientist checked to see if the equipment was still usable or not.

“Can we still use any of this?” The ghost-medic asked.

“No, all the computers have been smashed, and the tubes have been broken.” A scientist replied.

The ghosts were looking at the hole and checking inside of it to see if the hybrid had left any anything behind that the ghosts could use to track it. They fortunately found a tiny bit of acid that had oozed out of the hybrid’s mouth.

“Sir, we are tracking the hybrid, but I am sorry to say that it has already traveled five miles away from this base.” The ghost-medic said to Duran.

“You idiot…” Duran called the ghost-medic.

“Excuse me?” The medic asked.

“That thing could get itself killed out there!” Duran yelled. “Did you not even think about any of this before you left it unsupervised?!”

The ghost-medic was speechless. He could not think of a single word to say to Duran.

“Oh, forget you.” Duran said as he lifted his C-4 Canister Rifle at the medic’s head.

“No… Please wait… I can fix this! Just give me some more time!” The ghost-medic pleaded.

But it was too late. Just as the medic had said his last word, Duran fired his rifle, and the ghost-medic’s body blew to pieces, organs and blood splattering everywhere, in front of everyone to see. Durand walked over to the ghosts and stopped them from tracking the hybrid.

“Okay, now that I’m done with him, time for business.” Duran told all the ghosts. “Find the hybrid, and if any of you hurt it at all, I’ll kill you.”

I say Average and I'm being nice. Some writers' stories flow and you go along with them, yours grabs people and forces them to go there, in other words, too much pointing out obvious, just stating the action, lack of elaboration etc. NEEDS MORE DESCRIPTION!!! I actually like the story so far and ghost-medics sound interesting (you could have introduced them better), thus average. But one more thing, do you honestly think that a ghost would let itself be shot just like that? Not only that, but why would Duran want to waste a Ghost? They're super soldiers, not dumb marines.

Also, the swearing was random and unnecessary.

I kinda like it, but Duran acted too human. And whats the crap about just one hybrid? Duran said there were "thousands more across the galazy" in the campeign(or some other numbah). I was going to give it good, but then I thought that mine was a story with details later on so i bumped it to exceptional.

If thats rong ill vote PB on every story you make XD.

GRRRR i submited a pretty long review and it said I was logged out.

Basically all i said was that your sentences were too short and choppy, your details were poor when they were actually there, and no way the 'ghost-medics' would leave the hybrid alone if it would wake up any time soon. Oh yea, what kind of protoss/zerg hybrid gets pwned by its own statis cell...lol

Average.

LOL! The things a freakin monster that can blow a concrete or metal wall down, whichever it was (cauz the wall sure as hell wasnt made of paper), but it gets pwned by a little glass from its cell.. Wow, lol.

Also, you need to be more descriptive. Paint an image for people. Sure you should leave room for imagination, but you want to keep imagination controlled. Also, your paragraphs need to be longer.

I have to agree with ganthridor, there were suppose to be bunches of other hybrid facilities. I know that you said that Zeratul reported the Hybrid actions and all, but if you read more carefully in the campaign, the planet they arrived on was uncharted, and almost no one knew about it. Obviously Duran wouldnt pick obvious locations (etc, Korhal, Tarsonis, Aiur). So I dont find it quite possible for Duran to only be limited to one or two hybrid labs.

Wish i could give this an average, but it's not. -Below Average-
Just keep praticing, you'll get better! like me

Well, I'll try and give some more constructive criticism.

Like the others have said, adjectives are good, but you don't have to overdo it. A good method of using descriptive language is to say what it looks like to one of the characters, and how it makes them feel.

There were also some technical errors. They put the Hybrid under anaesthetic, not amnesia - amnesia is memory loss. Also, surely 'neural stimms' would be used to wake the creature up? 'Stimm' is general short for stimulant, and a stimulant makes something more active. A neural suppressant would work, however.

Language and grammar wise, you were mostly okay. I'm still giving this average because of the errors, but listen to what everyone has said and you will rapidly improve.

Oh yeah.... that's why rines and bats get faster when they stim... lol... that was a stupid mistake

Ganthridor... I wasn't saying that there's just one hybrid, I was just writing about one of them in this story.

And just for everybody, the ghost-medics aren't supposed to be ghosts with medical talent, they're just supposed to be regular medics that have physic powers.

Why would medics be ghosts?

I really think you took a lot of liberties with Duran's characterization. He's the kinda guy that very rarely gets angry, but he doesn't have to be angry to be extremely dangerous. In this story he seemed to be very irrational.
