Starcraft: Firstborn

As some of you know, the sci-fi and fantasy author Christie Golden is about to release a new novel about Starcraft (another proof that SC is NOT dead): Firstborn.

Firstborn is the first book of a trilogy based on one of the most fascinating characters developed in Starcraft, the Dark Templar caste. Here’s a brief description for you pervs to start salivating:

"Jake Ramsey -- an unassuming, yet talented archaeologist -- has been given the chance of a lifetime. Hired to investigate a recently unearthed Xel'Naga temple, he knows this latest assignment will open up whole new possibilities for his career. Yet, when Jake discovers the remains of a long-dead protoss mystic, his hopes and dreams are irrevocably drowned in a flood of alien memories. Bonded to the spirit of the dead protoss, Jake has become the sole inheritor of the protoss's total history -- every event, every thought -- every feeling.

Struggling to maintain his own fragile identity amidst the raging psychic storm in his mind, Jake soon realizes that he has stumbled upon a secret so cataclysmic in magnitude -- that it will shake the very foundations of the universe."

WARNING: Do not read at school: it’s a first class beacon for nerd bullies.

The book will be available on May 2007, but you can already pre-order it here.

Who is Christie Golden?

She has written over 25 novels, all within the fantasy and sci-fi genres. Apart from her own concepts King’s Man and Thief, Instrument of Fate and A.D. 999, she has written several works on Star Trek, Steven Spielberg’s Invasion America, and Warcraft; you can check her whole bibliography here.

This will be her first incursion into the SC universe, although she has great expectations on the project. An excerpt from her “dead” site tells us her thoughts on the matter:

"Over the next year, I will be writing three more novels for Blizzard, these three set in the StarCraft universe. The trilogy is titled The Dark Templar Trilogy and the first book, which I’m finishing up right now, is called THE FIRSTBORN. It’s kind of a thriller/action/mystery and I really love the characters I’m working with and the voice and feel of the story. I can’t wait for you all to read it."

I bet the SC fan community, specially those with hideous Dark Templar fetishes, are looking forward to read it as well ^^

BlizzPlanet Store promised an interview with her in the near future, so stay tuned for future news posts.

Although Christie is a talented author, do remember it's her first incursion into the SC universe: we wish her the best of luck, but she can't guarantee anything

She looks like such an artsy-type...
I think that's too stereotype a comment.
Anyways...No offense, but the abstract sounds a tad corny.

Im pretty Sure Starcraft is NOT dead. In fact ppl play Starcraft mods on WarcraftIII. Zerg Infestation is pretty neat on there, except for when there are noob Zerg. But yeah Starcraft might be dead if there's no WarcraftIII. Hope they're makin StarcraftII.

Sounds a little Legacy of the Xel'Naga to me, but naturally I'll check it out. I have no problem with adults writing about games. Hell, most people who grew up with StarCraft ARE adults, now. It DID come out nine years ago. Don't forget about Liberty's Crusade, which was a very good book.

Ghost was cool, too. I liked the guy who kept saying he was hungry whenever Nova accidentally read his mind.
@Crazyoldman: Would you prefer some five-year-old writes a book about Starcraft instead? Don't forget, Starcraft was made by 'grown people'. Just about everything is.

People know I like the game. But no one bullies me cause I'm a junior at my high school, 17, 6.7 feet tall, and I cheat at fighting (Like grabbing a baseball bat in a fist fight. Why I should I fight fair when something of mind will most likley be stolen if I lose)?

Starcraft would be nothing without Warcraft too you see!? Starcraft and Warcraft show symboitic relationships in one anouther to RTS gaming today. Without a Starcraft there wouldn't be an exciting WarcraftIII and without a Warcraft there wouldn't be a Starcraft because it would die down and disappear forever by now if blizzard hadn't made Starcraft mods for Warcraft(Which they should make better icons with and possibly campaigns) because of all the units and custom games such as Zerg Infestation :] Starcraft Warcraft whatever they are both awesome and the same. SOMEONE PLEASE PUT WARCRAFT FAN FICTION ON HERE. My point made about Blizzard Game loves. DIABLO and DIABLOII don't count sorry.
