I've been informed by jtorry of videogamer.com of a video detailing the differences between StarCraft I and StarCraft II, based on recreations of the footage from the Zerg gameplay trailer and the clips themselves.

I must say, it's quite an interesting curiosity. It's nice to see that battles in StarCraft II appear to look a little more dynamic now, with a much wider array of animations, even during rather static battles. Looking closely, you'll notice where Marines used to simply explode, they will be cut in half by massive Ultralisks or brought down by Zerglings. You can even see Medics throwing a few jabs at short range in an attempt to fend of the Zerg. Very interesting, and it shows how graphically promising StarCraft II may be:

I didn't notice it at first, but the marines DO split in half. Scary o_O

Now I want SC2 even more. When it's released I'll probably just notice it won't even run on my PC

Yes, the inclusion of 2-3 death animations is nice. I think the medics were jabbing for the healing animation though, not fighting.

Did the guy not have BW or something? He didn't use medics or lurkers in the tank and photon cannon recreations... Nice video though.

The multiple death animations are definitely a bonus.

They have also been toying with the idea of tying certain death animations to specific units killing you, for example Ultras always causing 'rines to split in half, etc.

That's not unit specific, zealots have been slicing rines in half for months.

The idea is bladed units slice rines, explosive units pop them, zerglings just tear them apart, etc.

looks pretty nice!

but what about buildings, do they explode or do they just crumple?

Protogod: Yeah and that is really nice ... Good vid . It would be nice if zergling could Jump over the Thor and let it down jajaja nahhh just a joke , isn't cool in gameplay but maybe for gamecinematic or single player maps intro

offTopic :The New lurkers have a really bad design -.-

That zerg rush with lings and hydras but no lurkers was an epic FAIL.
They killed like one zealot...

masterofhobbiton: the idea was that the Ultralisk would always trigger that animation. Not that it would be exclusive to them.

okok, gotcha.

Hope the same guy keeps making videos, with unit and building comparisons and stuff.

It's nice how now the siege tank turret turns smoothly.

In the first one, only 2 ultras survived. In the second one, all 5 ultras survived. I thought Zerg was supposed to be all about quantity > quality?

Probably the ultras are darn expensive, besides IMHO Zerg should have at least a few units which can't be killed practically instantly. And hey, the Zerg have continued to evolve, remember? That probably goes for ultras too ;-)

Yeah, seriously. Does anybody have any idea of what the requirements for SC2 will be?

The specs will range from being very, very low, to very, very high.

Blizzard will do their best to make it so that people with lower end comps can play this game.

"The game will be compatible with DirectX 10, and we're still considering whether there will be exclusive DirectX 10 graphic effects, but the graphics engine will also be very scalable to ensure that a wide range of different systems will be capable of running StarCraft II."

^ M'eh, looking at the system requirements of pretty much all new games, I bet you can barely start SC2 with hardware like that >_>

Too bad, since, my own computer barely fulfills even those requirements :/
