Hey folks. Today, you're going to hear a strategy for Ancients of Aiur RPG [did I get the name right?]. It is not a totally perfect strategy, or even a good one [it depends on how you look at it], per se. It is how I play. OK, here we go.
HOW TO PLAY
This map will take a while, so don't give up. Okay, you start out with a Marine, called "Landlord" [dunno why its called that]. There are three special structures at the bottom, a stasis cell, an overmind, and an ion cannon. You must destroy them at some point, this being your first objective. There are three rooms behind you, which, if you bring the landlord there, will give you one probe, scv, or drone [depending on which room]. In front, there are two paths, going down and up/right. Go down the bottom one as fast as possible, because there is an invincible wraith that attacks all who go there. lead him away, and let him kill you. Each time your landlord dies, he will respawn at the start. Now go up. There is a clearing up ahead; kill any bad guys there and bring workers up. Bad guys will give you varying amounts of minerals, but they are the only money source on this map. I would start with a probe and scv, and build a nexus, pylon and gateway, and make a couple zealots. Send them on hunting missions. As you gain money, build all the structures needed to get Dark Templar. There are also beacons in the center of the map, but I don't remember what they do. Anyways, then build a c.c., barracks and supply depot, and some rines. Send them hunting, too. Eventually, build some air units [correction, LOTZ of air] like say, at least ten carriers and/or BC's and a few shuttles, now start building DTs. Load them into shuttles, and send your attack force to the wall in the middle. NOTE: there is a way to get over the wall without shuttles, but I wouldn't recommend it, unless you like to lose units.
Take out any units on the other side of the wall with your ships, starting with detectors. Then drop your DT's and take out the ground units before loading up again. Proceed like this to the special building on the bottom left [it likely does not matter which, as long as you have many many ships] and take out the detectore with your ships. Then, land your templar, and taking advantage of their cloak, kill the ground units. Then destroy the structure, and load up. Do this for all the three buildings. At certain periods, you will get super units, for certain amt.s of kills. After you have killed the structures, the Ancient will appear.
The Ancient is an archon [reg. archon] with 9999 armor, 9999 shields, and 9999 attack. Here, your DT's will really come in handy. Trap the ancient along a wall with your DT [Ancient does not have any detectors], because they have melee attack, thus surrounding the archon, and start attacking with everything you have, most of which should be able to cloak, or attack long range. Carriers are extremely bad against the archon: it can fry several with one shot. Focus primarily on cloakable units. This map requires lotsa teamwork, so work together. Whoever puts the kibosh on the Ancient will win.
This is not a totally perfect guide, it may have lots of flaws, but I hope it helps.

Another strategy is to take an arbiter [you get one after x kills] and go to the wall, build siege tanks and put them into siege mode and recall them across. Or, you can use nukes. I practically beat the map in single player using both strat's [I think you need multiple persons to win. Too bad...] Power Overwhelming, PT32 |
