However the populace speaks out against me, as the map seems to be V. popular (2k downloads at this time much more than any other singleplayer map). They may say they're not very good but at least you know that in your eyes they are, and that's what matters. Also try not to ignore criticisms to your maps, you can actually use them to make further maps much better and then you might actually get the nice publicity you are so craving. On that point the conversations were quite quick especially at the begining. I see you tried to simulate a real war situaiton where everyone is talking and all hell breaks loose, however the text was just too quick for me... I like your ability to make really wierd triggers, for example the odd one about pulling people into the tenticle monser, lol that cought me out. I liked the "i hate cheaters" triggers, very clever. The map is challenging, unpredictable and I had no idea really what to do or go exept gather parts for the ship (quickly). When you "create 1 captain smith for player 7" there is no start location for the Player 7 and so instead of being rescuable it's an enemy. All you need to do is, have better AI so teh zerg attack constantly and not with huge periods of nothing happening, improve the place you need to defend, as it's a bit tight at the mo', try spreading it out over a larger area and having seperate weaker bases that the Zerg will attack, instead of 1 huge base. No wonder only 6 people won it out of 95, the rest had no clue about what the HELL was going on. As S.C. says it is fun to run around finding the survivors, plus! It was very annoying, almost like a maze!! I am not a renoun star craft player and I am not very good at the whole strategy thing (so it took me a few goes to finish it) but I know a good map when I see one. As with this type of map you have to try and make the attacks seem like real attacks, and not just spawned units attacking the same place every time. Sadly this map did just that, the main problem is that the base was in the middle so attacks could have come from all directions but they only came from one (especialy the air units). Some people might find actually playing the map against people/computers helps them to learn and develop strategical skills, but others might find watching replays better. Replays do give a nice overview of the battle that happened though, and you can pause and check on certain things or pause and just look at each player and see what on earth is going on. If they are new then they will listen and learn from the community etc. and then mould into the community and eventually the people who are annoyed will not even know that at one point the mods were new. Take the example of a new job (or school) A person could be very talented and people could know of his talent in his workplace, but when he goes to a new job: New people think of him as dirt and know not of his talent ... It does not dl for most computers but others I think work. I also don't know what steps the staff has taken on this problem, I would suggest sending some feedback to them, showing that there is a problem that when you edit maps it won't download for some people. ... I think gmrm is right, the beast did only protect the base and was not very good, prehaps the beast could be invincable until you kill the cerabrate? Most of the map is just empty space and the Protoss base takes up a tiny bit in the south east corner. This makes not only the map not interesting but it also does not involve much strategy. I suggest if there is one big boss guy you need to kill, then you have a narrow and tall map with loads of enemy defences blocking the boss guy off and then you have a base on the bottom and you have to fight your way up. I suggest that prehaps...the map creator has an option on it to "lock" his map down so that when someone tries to open and tamper with it he cannot (even then some stupid hacker with the brains the size of Britain would come in and jack the whole thing up). Then prehaps the lock feature could be locked by a series of passwords that the map designer makes up. Also a "watermark" feature would be linked in with the passwords of the lock feature. Yeah it can be confusing at times, I understand that the people who play the map are not the ones who created it and thus need information about how you might loose etc. The maps so far have been quite hard to make but as they progress I hope them to be more conventional.
