Well, from what I see there are a few things you should work on. First off, you should work on making wide bridges/ramps. Right now every choke is unfairly narrow, creating an imbalance in favor of Terran. Very difficult to do anything PvT right now. Also, you have some big clumps of doodads and open spots without any doodads. You want a fairly even distribution of doodads, rather than big clumps of similar doodads in a couple spots. ...

I actually really like the idea. It is definitely too tight, no doubt about it, however the concept is a classic, and it's execution would have been much better if you had found a way to widen the main path. The expos on the side are also fantastic, as are the mineral blocks. But again - those are too tight as well. So close. -Protato ...

Very nice. However, your natural expansions should be closer to the ramp, or your entrance to the main should be moved closer the the natural, because generally in sc melee, Zerg depends on sunkens or armies at it's natural to also defend it's main. By separating them, you are putting zerg at a disadvantage. Also, your invered ramps are rather blocky. I'd look at the tiles used in other maps and see whats different about your ramp. ...

I like the idea behind this map, but it still needs work in practicality. It's pretty narrow, and totally unbuildable in most spots. Not necessarily bad, but its really overkill and just too extreme for my tastes. Also, you have a couple dead end bridges that just kinda lead into an empty island. That is pretty useless and shows that you were unable to use the space better. Oerall good work, but try to balance out ideas with practical norms, and always make full use of your map. ...

Since BG got the balance stuff, I'll just mention the aesthetics. You should think about how natural a map looks (except of course on space platform.) At the moment you have large attached chunks of terrain variation. More groups of smaller patches would have made it much more believable. Just focus on what looks like it could actually exist. ...

The thing of it is that it's not symmetrical alright, but it is not even. Red is way farther away than either of the other two, and thus misses out on 2 free expos in 1 vs 1. Teal doesnt even have a gas in his main... The chokes are all different sizes, which is really important in any matchup. Overally, the terrain of this map doomed it to be positionally, and possibly racially imbalanced. my $0.02 ...

Is it not true? It was mundane in your opinion, and I do agree. It is not a work of art by any means, but I would much rather highlight your strengths than your weaknesses. The reason it didnt win was basically just because it looked way too much like the WGT map azalea, assuming you know of it. The unfinished ramps was 100% on purpose, but I did not have enough time to fix them aesthetically. They have totally different combat values than a real ramp, though, and imo, it was unique. So I was like "what the hell" Also, I had to ifght for a good number of my balance points. It might not be pretty, but if heres one thing I'm sure this map is, it's pretty balanced. ...

I feel sorry for what I have to say now. This map is kinda...well, bad. Theres essentialyl nothing in it. Most of the map is ordinairy dirt, without variation or doodads for a good chunk of it. The center looks totally unnatural, and the map just seems biased against Terrans in general. I don't think there are enough expos, but since it's a 4 player map I can overlook that. There are alot of chokes, and essentially everything is tankable, because of how you used buildable high terrain. More importantly, start locations are not balanced. Some players start on high ground, other start surrounded by cliffs, some start in the open, etc. These factors can greatly affect gameplay, and make this map rather imbalanced for any competitive play. I loved your use of wide ramps and bridges. It reminds me alot of Peaks of Baekdu, which just has a bad rap (imo). Regardless, both naturals are hard to defend, and since both have gas, it is a tad biased for Z. More importantly on the Z bias, there is a ton of widened stuff, adn the entire middle path is wide & unbuildable. This map is very very damaging for a T player to play on. TBH, I really liked this map when i opened it. It's a really amazing start. The only things i'd change are- Make sure each main has enough buildable space in it. They migh be a lil' small. make sure you cant squeeze too many units through the cracks in those raised jungle barriers remove the doodads in the roucky round. It makes the middle to cluttered. make the rocky ground more natural. But all that stuff is basic tweaks that you need in any map. So really, when I saw this I was ...

I really really like this map. It reminds me alot of a map I used to wanna make before I saw Peaks of Baekdu, which did it more creatively. What I -didn't- like about this map was that it was narrow and linear. Although it made great use of wide ramps and inverts, it still had a series of chokes through the middle, making it difficult for P and Z to break a Terran once they dig in. For a first attempt I must commend you for such symmetry. However; 1) the mains are kinda akward, and it seems rather difficuls, or even unnecessary to go into the middle which is 2) way too open. Open centers are great and a must in most maps, however, this is just wasted soace, which could be more aesthetically pleasing. 3) the naturals are way too easy to get to. In my opinion it is definitely too cramped. That was my very first thought when I saw the middle. There's a couple things you could do to fix it, and I'd suggest doing them both- 1) you should make thosebridges wide bridges. i really see no reason you cant, especially given that you have plenty of water on either side of them. 2) you should make that cliff on the middle-right less distinguished. It's decent, however I gotta say: The "mains" are Hugeeeeeee. There's 3 entrances to your main, which makes it very hard to defend, especially from a quick vulture harass or something. Also, the fact that there are 3 mineral lines in your "man" makes this a very turtleable map if it gets to later game. Zerg cant FE because of how many entrances you placed, and where you placed them. This severly limits Z's ability to play on this map. ...

The mineral placement here is even more linear as on Dunes of Chaos. Like I said there, make a jagged pattern that you can mine at once. 7-8 patches of minerals is enough. 9+ is just unnecessary, and unless certain requirements are met, it can be considerewd a money map. Like is said on your other map (again) remember your gas placement. 12 and 9 beat 3 and 6. & again, it's kinda narrow, meaning T only needs to push with siege tanks. ...

A few things. Work on your mineral placement. It's not as bad as some maps i've seen, and it's a normal mistake for newcomers. However, it needs work. Look at WGT maps, and try to make that kind of jagge dpattern. Not all in a straight line, but you should be able to mine all the minerals at once, at similar speeds. Gas placement- gas should be at the top or to the left. 3'o'clock positions, and 6'o'clock positions require 4 miners, whereas 12 and 9 require only 3. This map has alot of ...

Technically, you can ONLY win on this map. (no defeat trigger) However, this map is incredibly simple, yet requires finesse'. This is a good way to practice reaver micro, and all other kinds of shuttle micro. This might not be great, and it's lack of defeat makes this borderline delete-worthy BUT I happen to believe that this map should be an institution for all Protoss players (assuming you tweak it a little) ...

It's aesthetically decent. However, theres a few things... It favors T. The mains are tankable, and the naturals are tankable. It hates z. It's cramped, and what's more (this one is a more specific problem) is that Z cant FE. Allow me to elaborate. Z generally does a fast expo build, but this requires a natural in a nearby choke (thus defending the expo and your main simultaneously instead of spending money on multiple defences.) Some bases can have sige tanks placed over them, some dont even have a choke, some are on low ground, some are on tall cliffs. Its just...imba....alot....and some of the minerals cant be mined very good... You should be able to mine all the minerals at an expo/main SIMULTANEOUSLY. You shuoldnt have 1 mineral block 20 feet behind the rest of them. you can do like 1-2 squares difference (2 being the absolute max) but you cant do 3 layers of minerals. thats just...stupid. ...

It's a good idea, it's just a little imbalanced if one player ends up with the mountain, and the other players end up with sunken lands. Just work on balance more in your next map, and you'll be on your way to rave reviews. Dont give in to the easy route and just make this a lil' ums or whatnot. Good, but by trying to tier the middle into like 3 separete routes, you effectively cluttered it beyond use. 1-2 should always be the maximum # of depth changes in the middle. ...

That kind of arguing isn't helpful or necessary. The popular list has been screwy lately, and given that the maps section has far more active Submitters than voters, it's very easy for maps to get to the top, regardless of quality. That, however, is hardly the fault of the author, and as such, should be blamed on the general consumer here. mappers of all skill levels are welcome, but its up to the regualrs here to put each map in its place. It -looks- alright aesthetically. Unfortunately, this reminds me of my map mount-olympus. Which means a couple things. First of all, T can own by using lots and lots of tanks early on. Second, toss can own late game by using lots and lots of carrier micro. FInally, Z can GET OWNED no matter what. It's clear that you have talent, and expiramentation with maps like these is always good and important. Unfortunately this isnt particularly balanced between the races. ...

Never even thought of that (actually red's are harassable too, but that's bad.) I'll fix it when I have time. Thx for the find, dude. I'm not concerned with the huge min walls. The drawback is more aesthetics than functionality. The doodad mineral fields are irrelevant. They have no real tacticaladvantage/disadvantage. The biggest problem, in my own opinion, is that it's imba for Z. Z doesnt have a FE that will cover their choke. That means the only way to have the same defense as yo ...

I didnt think lings were able to pass the min block O.o If so, it's an imbalance, and can be easily remedied. Just use scmdraft and replace min blocks with p12 buildings (like you mentioned) That way it should be more fair. If lings can sneak through, they'll be able to harass like a a mofo from behind your mineral line. ...
