First thing I saw was the "the Sergeant grinned, turning a heavily scarred head to look" line. I swear I've read that somewhere! Some book.... Second was the overuse of the word "smirk". But I would love the ghosts cloaking power... Though come to think of it, the cloaking device is -- well, just that -- a mechanical device. So I could be a civiliean and cloak!

Mabey not as high as it was in the story, but the number does afect the height. Try this: Take a match and light it. Note the height of the flame, then, keeping the first match lit, light another and put the two side-by-side, tuching. Look at the flame again. Pyro-maniacs rule!!!!! ...
